Book Making
During the summer of 2024 I had the opportunity to take an extensive book making workshop through BGSU. Long days filled with in-depth learning and precise craft taught me the structure of books. This class also introduced me to the idea of artist books.
Considering all my experience in studio art this had to have been one of my favorite courses. With the rise of technology it is important to remember where we started and how we will move forward. Books provide a multifaceted sensory experience.
From choice of paper, binding, book cloth, closure; all of these impact how a book is understood. I carry this knowledge into my design practice, understanding how physical material can influence communication.
