Jewelry + Metals
Part of my undergraduate degree included taking rigorous studio art courses. I explored several mediums and decided to spend the most time on metals.
Jewelry making and metalsmithing allowed me to experiment with an intimidating material. I crafted jewelry before taking these courses but never anything this intense.
It was challenging to memorize the precise process for firing metals, but once I understood it I ran with it. Finding inspiration in nature, including patterns, was a big part of this course. Enameling introduced color and a new way of creating.
