BeHerd
2026 Gold Addy Award winner
BeHerd is an interactive storytelling website created for the YWCA of Northwest Ohio and their AMEND Together program based in Toledo. Through gameplay and illustration, BeHerd teaches healthy masculinity.
During this project our class acted as a hypothetical design studio. Everyone worked together and was placed on either the design team or research team. I participated as a member of the design team, and through awareness of detail was asked to be design lead.
I illustrated all of the characters and their accessories for this website. My knowledge of wildlife and research on Toledo area mascots helped our class decide which specific animals to use. Through an inviting sports theme and video-game-feel BeHerd teaches young boys how to form healthy relationships with the women and leaders in their lives.
